The revamped 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is subject to a recall due to a potential issue with gasoline models inaccurately showing the fuel level.
This recall affects 524 vehicles, comprising 454 units of the GranTurismo coupe and 70 units of its convertible counterpart, the 2024 Maserati GranCabrio. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has indicated that a software glitch in the body control modules of these vehicles may cause the digital fuel gauge to display a higher fuel level than what is actually present in the tank.

This defect could result in drivers unexpectedly running out of fuel, leading to an engine shutdown during operation even if the instrument cluster indicates there is fuel left. Although depleting the fuel supply can pose challenges, Maserati has confirmed to the NHTSA that it is not aware of any related accidents or injuries stemming from this issue.
To address the problem, dealers will install updated software for the body control module at no cost, utilizing the updates already implemented in newly manufactured vehicles. Maserati intends to send out notification letters to owners starting on October 28. Additionally, owners may reach out to Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 for further assistance. The reference number for this recall is 749.
Debuting in the U.S. in 2023 as a 2024 model, the new GranTurismo was first unveiled in 2022, taking over from a previous model that ceased production in 2019 after 12 years. The updated design features a twin-turbo V6 engine and a modernized interior showcasing three screens. The GranCabrio convertible variant made its entrance earlier this year.
This fuel gauge issue does not impact the GranTurismo Folgore, which is powered by three electric motors. An electric version of the GranCabrio Folgore is set to be introduced for the 2025 model year as Maserati expands its lineup of electric models under the Folgore (Italian for “lightning”) designation.
