The Acura RDX compact crossover has evolved to become larger and more costly over the years, with the current 2025 model’s base price nearing $50,000. This evolution has created a vacancy in Acura’s range for a slightly smaller compact crossover, the 2025 ADX, which was revealed on Thursday ahead of its expected market launch early next year.
While pricing details will be finalized closer to the launch date, Acura has indicated that the starting price will likely be around the mid-$30,000s. This figure is a few thousand dollars above the entry price of Acura’s Integra compact hatchback, which shares the same platform as the ADX.
The ADX spans 185.8 inches in length, measuring just 1.6 inches shorter than the RDX, thus providing more interior space compared to competing premium compact crossovers in its price bracket. The cargo capacity stands at 24.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which can be expanded to 55.1 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down flat. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a power tailgate featuring an automatic closing function for convenience when loading items.
At launch, buyers can select between base and A-Spec variants. Even the base version of the ADX offers an impressive array of standard features. These include 18-inch wheels, a wireless charger, wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system.
2025 Acura ADX
The A-Spec edition upgrades to 19-inch wheels and includes features such as a sliding panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats. An additional Advance Package is also available for the A-Spec, enhancing it with technological features like Google built-in and a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Numerous electronic driver-assistance technologies come standard, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, active lane tracking, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. A surround-view camera system will be offered and will be standard on the ADX A-Spec when equipped with the Advance Package.
2025 Acura ADX
The ADX is powered by a single powertrain option, featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and an all-wheel-drive system capable of distributing up to 50% of the torque to the rear wheels. Although Acura has not disclosed specific horsepower numbers, the same engine used in the Integra generates 200 hp. A more powerful ADX Type S variant is expected to follow, as Acura plans to include a Type S performance version for each model in its lineup. It is likely that the ADX Type S will utilize the 320-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the Integra Type S.
The introduction of the ADX does not mark the first time Acura has offered a crossover smaller than the RDX. The brand previously had a subcompact crossover known as the CDX, which was sold exclusively in China between 2016 and 2022. While there were considerations to bring the CDX to the U.S., these plans were ultimately abandoned.
