The upcoming 2025 BMW i5, an electrified variant of the 5-Series luxurious midsize sedan, remains almost unchanged as it enters its second year in the market.

Priced at $68,275, the starting cost covers a required $1,175 destination fee, and is applicable to the basic i5 eDrive40. This rear-wheel-drive model produces 335 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque from its sole motor, propelling it from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds according to BMW’s estimations

The i5 xDrive40, equipped with dual-motors for all-wheel-drive, is positioned in the middle of the range with a starting price of $71,275. This variant is rated at 389 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. BMW promotes a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 5.2 seconds for this model.

At the pinnacle of the lineup is the performance-oriented i5 M60, priced at $85,275 sans additional features. The M60 model also employs a dual-motor powertrain, boasting 590 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque. As per BMW’s estimates, this configuration propels the vehicle from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, complemented by an adaptive suspension and upgraded brakes for enhanced handling.

All i5 variants continue to be powered by an 84.3-kwh battery pack. While EPA range assessments have not yet been disclosed, the 2024 i5 achieved up to 295 miles in its basic eDrive40 variant, 266 miles in the xDrive40 configuration, and 253 miles with the M60 setup. The highest range figures for each version are specific to certain wheel and tire combinations.

Traditional gasoline models of the 5-Series are also making a comeback in 2025, with the inclusion of a new M5 featuring a 717-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain. The M5 sedan was unveiled in June and is due to arrive in the U.S. later this year with a starting price of $120,675. Additionally, a 2025 BMW M5 Touring wagon is scheduled to debut during the 2024 Monterey Car Week, also slated for the U.S. market. However, the electric i5 Touring wagon will not be available in this market.
