A revamped Mercedes-Benz E-Class debuted last year, and this autumn sees the introduction of its first performance variant from AMG.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz AMG E 53 Hybrid marks AMG’s debut approach to the latest generation of the E-Class, combining a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with an electric motor embedded in the transmission for performance on par with a V-8.
On Thursday, Mercedes announced a base price of $89,150 in the U.S., which includes a $1,150 destination fee.
Even though it features a six-cylinder setup, the vehicle produces a robust 577 hp as standard, but when launch control is activated through a feature called Race Start, this can temporarily elevate the power to 604 hp, equaling what the previous E 63, powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, could deliver.

Performance figures suggest a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds with launch control engaged (regularly 3.9 seconds), alongside a top speed limited to 174 mph. The electric motor can generate up to 161 hp independently and is capable of propelling the E 53 Hybrid to speeds as high as 87 mph, according to AMG.
The powertrain of the E 53 Hybrid is a fresh advancement from AMG, which will subsequently be integrated into the 2026 GLE 53 Hybrid next year, albeit with a slightly toned-down output of 536 hp.
The GLE 53 Hybrid will incorporate a larger battery, featuring a 31.2-kWh battery, as opposed to the E 53 Hybrid’s slightly smaller 28.6-kWh battery. The E 53 Hybrid’s battery maintains a usable capacity of 21.2 kWh for everyday driving, aiding in fuel efficiency, with the remainder allocated for electric boosts during high-performance scenarios, replenished through brake energy recovery. When fully charged, the EPA estimates that the E 53 Hybrid can travel 42 miles before the gasoline engine activates.
In addition to its powertrain, the E 53 Hybrid boasts increased rigidity over the standard E-Class, along with a broader track, upgraded performance brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension outfitted with steel springs and adaptive dampers. All-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering are also standard features.
Drivers can adjust many aspects of the powertrain and features through the E 53 Hybrid’s drive mode selector, which offers Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes for regular driving conditions, along with a Slippery mode for wet or icy roads. An Individual mode is also available for drivers to set their preferences.
To enhance performance, AMG presents a Dynamic Plus package that includes larger front brakes with red-painted calipers. The rear differential is electronically controlled for improved cornering traction, and dynamic engine mounts are part of the upgrade.
Inside the cabin, standard amenities include a digital instrument cluster and a prominent 14.4-inch infotainment display, accompanied by a surround-view camera. Additional features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a panoramic sliding sunroof.
Enhanced Exclusive and Pinnacle trim levels are available, starting at $91,600 and $93,300 respectively, inclusive of destination fees. The Exclusive trim adds digital light headlights, a Burmester audio system, active ambient illumination, and sound-insulated glass, while the Pinnacle trim incorporates these features with the inclusion of digital light headlights with projections, a heads-up display, four-zone climate control, and more.
