A new iteration of Nissan’s Armada full-size, three-row SUV is set to debut for the 2025 model year, and the manufacturer revealed the initial look on Tuesday.

It is paired with the new Infiniti QX80, which will also launch for 2025, and similarly to the previous generation, will be marketed as the Patrol outside of the U.S. The Patrol has been a nameplate since 1951 and represents Nissan’s most durable SUV, and this off-road reputation should also enhance the new Armada’s appeal.

All vital elements for a powerful off-roader are present, including body-on-frame construction, four-wheel drive, and for the first time a Pro-4X dedicated off-road variant. Additional models include the SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve.

Nissan announced that the new frame offers 25% enhanced torsional rigidity and 57% improved lateral stiffness compared to the previous Armada’s framework, which should lead to better ride comfort.

    2025 Nissan Armada Pro-4X

The previous Armada’s 5.6-liter V-8 has finally been retired, replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 that is shared with the QX80. The V-6 produces 425 hp in the Armada, which is a reduction of 25 hp compared to the QX80’s output but an increase of 25 hp over the outgoing Armada’s V-8 performance. Towing potential remains at 8,500 pounds.

The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and in all models except the Pro-4X, rear-wheel drive is standard with four-wheel drive available as an option. The Pro-4X includes four-wheel drive as standard, along with an electronic locking rear differential, air springs, adjustable dampers, and 20-inch wheels equipped with 275/60 all-terrain tires.

The Pro-4X offers 9.6 inches of ground clearance, surpassing that of other models, as well as enhanced approach (33.9 degrees) and departure (24.3 degrees) angles. This model features eight driving modes, many tailored specifically for off-roading, and an off-road information display with tools like an inclinometer, slip indicator, and steering angle indicator.

    2025 Nissan Armada

The new Armada is marginally larger than the previous SUV, with a length of 209.6 inches, which is an increase of 0.7 inches. However, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 121.1 inches. Nissan claims an additional 5.7 inches of legroom for the third row and an additional 4.2 inches for the front row. Consumers will have the option to choose between seven- and eight-seat configurations.

Storage capacity behind the third row expands by 24%, nearly four cubic feet, to 20.4 cubic feet, and with both the second and third rows folded down, the SUV provides a remarkable 97.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

Google built-in comes standard on most models, providing access to popular applications such as Google Maps and Google Assistant, while Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard throughout the lineup. A premium Klipsch audio system featuring 12 speakers is available, along with options like a surround-view camera with 3D graphics, transparent hood technology, and a front wide view for enhanced visibility. Nissan also offers its ProPilot automated driver-assist feature, which enables hands-free driving in a single lane on select roadways for certain versions.

Sales are anticipated to commence in late 2024, with pricing details to be disclosed closer to that time.

A refreshed Murano is also expected to debut for the 2025 model year. Similar to the Armada, it is expected to target a more upscale market while transitioning to a smaller engine.
