Nissan is gearing up to introduce seven fresh models in the U.S. within the coming three years, and a refreshed Murano is among them, recently captured on camera for the first time.
Planned for a reveal later this year, and likely as a 2025 iteration, the upcoming Murano is anticipated to showcase an elegant, almost coupe-esque silhouette reminiscent of Nissan’s previous Chill-Out concept. The latest Murano iteration seems to shun the traditional V-shaped corporate grille of Nissan, referred to as V-Motion.
The lateral aspect bears a striking resemblance to Nissan’s Ariya EV, which is a positive comparison. Progressing to the rear, robust fenders along with continuous taillights and a rooftop spoiler bestow a resemblance to Porsche’s range of SUVs. The taillights constitute a light strip running across the vehicle’s rear, with only the Nissan emblem disrupting the flow at the center.
In the realm of the cabin, the creators have opted for the widely-adopted contemporary dashboard featuring a unified panel that envelopes digital displays for both the instrumentation and infotainment tasks. Elevating the luxury essence is stitched detailing bordering the upper section of the dash. Notably, the design bears a kinship to the setup seen in the Ariya.
To suppress expenses, the forthcoming Murano will likely build upon the front-wheel-drive chassis of the ongoing Murano, which debuted back in the 2015 model year. Expect important modifications to the underpinnings, such as a speculative shift to an inline-4 turbocharged engine supplanting the existing V-6 powerplant. This is expected to be coupled with the transition to a 9-speed automatic transmission with a conventional torque converter, rather than the predecessor’s CVT.
In its March announcement regarding seven new vehicles destined for the U.S. market, Nissan mentioned the lineup would encompass electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and series hybrid models, which are identified by Nissan as E-Power vehicles. Nonetheless, it remains unconfirmed if any form of electrification is in the pipeline for the new Murano.
In addition, Nissan plans to reveal a new version of the Armada this year, which will share its platform with an overhauled Patrol sold in other regions. The forthcoming Armada will relate to the recently-unveiled 2025 Infiniti QX80 which saw its debut in March and hits the market this summer. An enhanced iteration of the Frontier pickup truck has also been observed undergoing tests.
