The 992-series 911 GT3 RS from Porsche stands as a powerhouse among stock race-oriented vehicles available for purchase, yet Manthey-Racing endeavors to refine this equation with an assortment of dynamic enhancements.
Test mules for the Manthey-refined 911 GT3 RS have been witnessed undergoing trials at the Nürburgring, proximate to where Manthey’s base of operations is situated, with the initial enhancements expected to emerge before the year’s end.
Recent imagery and footage provided by Car Spy Media depict Manthey’s testing of a 911 GT3 RS equipped with an outsized rear aerofoil that boasts an active mechanism, coupled with a central anchor fin that extends to a panel positioned in lieu of the standard rear window. Petite vortex creators are affixed to the rear segment of the roof, and the rear diffuser sports a novel configuration. Manthey has also adorned the latest prototype with its aerodynamic discs on the back wheels.
These alterations principally serve to amplify rear downforce, crucial for maintaining tire adherence to the driving surface during lateral maneuvers. The standard 911 GT3 RS is already capable of summoning a staggering 1,895 pounds of downforce at a velocity of 177 mph, twice that of its predecessor, the 991-series 911 GT3 RS, presenting a considerable challenge for Manthey.
In the predecessor to the 911 GT3 RS, Manthey’s updates have encompassed tailored engine covers, modifiable coil-overs, bespoke brake pads, and individualized brake lines, with these and further enhancements anticipated for the newest iteration.
Manthey’s refinements traditionally revolve around aerodynamics, braking systems, and suspension tuning. Thus, the engine in the 911 GT3 RS—a 4.0-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder—should retain its original output of 518 horsepower, channeled to the back wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automated gearbox. Despite peak output likely staying the same, the enhancements by Manthey are predicted to shave seconds off the car’s original ‘Ring lap time of 6:49.328.
As Porsche’s most triumphant private racing squad, Manthey has captured numerous titles and victories. Such accolades have granted Manthey the honor of occasionally assuming the role of Porsche’s factory-backing team, including instances in the World Endurance Championship, and have facilitated the availability of Manthey’s upgrade packages through Porsche dealerships, including those in the U.S.
Porsche has freshly renewed the 992-series 911 for the 2025 line-up, integrating a hybrid system within the GTS model. Nevertheless, the Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS variants continue without modifications for 2025. Plans for their evolution are on the horizon, however.
