Ferrari engineers have been seen conducting tests on what appears to be the successor to the Roma coupe.
The prototype is heavily camouflaged, yet bears a resemblance to the Roma’s shape. However, there are notable differences, such as the front splitter’s design and the uncovered sections of the rear fascia.
There also appear to be alterations in the design of the door and rocker panels, although this may be influenced by the camouflage.
In August, Ferrari indicated that the Roma was nearing the end of its lifecycle, making the sighting of the successor during public testing expected.
Ferrari typically refreshes or redesigns its models roughly every five years. The Roma started production in 2020 as the inaugural model built on a new front-midship platform that it shares with the Purosangue and 12Cilindri.
As the Roma was a completely new design not derived from its predecessor, the Portofino, it is likely that its successor will be an updated version, which the automaker refers to as a Modificata. This could explain the successor’s similar silhouette to the Roma.
While Ferrari has not released specific details about the model set to replace the Roma, the automaker’s aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 suggests that hybrid technology may be part of the offering. Currently, it remains unclear whether the hybrid powertrain will feature a twin-turbo V-6 engine, similar to that in the 296 and newly introduced F80, or a twin-turbo V-8 engine, which powers the Roma with 612 hp.
The debut of the Roma successor is expected in late 2025 or early 2026. Prior to this release, Ferrari plans to unveil an SF90 successor, which is also being tested in anticipation of a 2025 launch. Furthermore, the company is actively developing its first electric vehicle, which has been seen undergoing tests ahead of its launch next year.
