Engineers from Genesis have been identified conducting trials with a prototype for an enhanced iteration of the GV60, the debut electric vehicle from the Korean luxury brand.
The prototype is heavily concealed, but a few subtle adjustments are noticeable.
A fresh design has been implemented for the front fascia, and the headlights now feature new internals with smaller LEDs. Additionally, a new aerodynamic pattern has been applied to the wheels.
It’s challenging to observe any alterations at the back currently, although this might change with more advanced prototypes. The interior is not clearly visible, but it is likely that some modifications will be made there as well.
A substantial change is expected to be the introduction of an 84-kwh battery to replace the current 77.4-kwh unit in the dual-motor all-wheel-drive GV60s and the 77-kwh unit in the single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions. This change aligns with the updates made to the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 models.
Although not officially confirmed, Genesis might unveil a performance-oriented variant called the GV60 Magma with this update. The Magma performance sub-brand was recently launched by Genesis as a competitor to BMW M and Mercedes-Benz AMG. Genesis has expressed its intention for all its vehicles to eventually receive the Magma treatment. The high-performance versions of the EV6 and Ioniq 5 boast outputs of 576 hp and 641 hp, respectively, suggesting similar performance enhancements could be in store for the GV60 Magma.
Currently, the GV60 offers a maximum of 225 hp in rear-wheel-drive configuration, while the all-wheel-drive versions are available with peak outputs of 314 hp and 429 hp. The rear-wheel-drive model offers the longest range, with an estimated 264 miles according to EPA standards.
The updated GV60 is anticipated for release next year as a 2026 model. This timeframe will also mark the launch of updated versions of the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 models from Genesis.
