Should any vehicle remain available with a stick shift until the very end, the Porsche 911 is a prime candidate. Yet, those who are currently reserving the latest iteration for 2025 will find the option for a manual gearbox absent.

The collection of 2025 Porsche 911 models includes fresh iterations of the Carrera, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, and Targa 4 GTS trims, as well as retained models of the Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS.

A representative from Porsche, when approached by Motor Authority, affirmed that at this time, the upcoming lineup for the 2025 911 is unavailable with a stick shift, although the spokesperson refrained from providing insights into any prospective modifications that might be introduced later.

Conspicuously absent are the Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera T, GT3, and GT3 Touring trims, all variants that hold a strong appeal among enthusiasts of the stick shift. Expected to join the offerings at some future point, these trims are likely to present the previously available seven-speed stick shift as a substitute to the standard eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, for at least a selection of them.

The GTS trim also has a significant following among aficionados of manuals, yet the reimagined 2025 911 forges ahead with a novel hybrid system featuring an electric motor coupled with the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic as the go-to drivetrain for this category, suggesting that the GTS might not see the return of a stick shift.

Expect the hybrid powertrain to be integrated into the Turbo S variant as well, which is exclusively automatic, when its refresh occurs. Current prototypes of this model are undergoing road evaluations.

Beyond the inclusion of the hybrid system in the GTS, updates for Porsche’s 2025 vehicles also encompass subtle cosmetic enhancements to the exterior design at both the front and rear, a completely digitized dashboard, and the introduction of an ignition starter button. The revamped 911 is outfitted as standard with a duo of seats, although a four-seat configuration is available at no additional fee. The asking price commences at $122,095, destination fees of $1,995 included, with the anticipation of deliveries starting come autumn.
