Bentley is gearing up for a significant refresh of its Continental GT lineup, a refresh that involves discarding the esteemed W-12 in favor of a novel hybrid drivetrain anchored by a V-8.
A variation of the hybrid system, known as the Ultra Performance Hybrid, is anticipated to produce 771 hp.
On Tuesday, Bentley affirmed that this prodigious output will be exclusive to the revamped Continental GT Speed, which is set to be presented on June 25. This will empower the automobile to reach a maximum velocity of 208 mph.
Matching the peak velocity of its predecessor, the current Continental GT Speed, which generates 650 hp from its bi-turbo 6.0-liter W-12, the new model will additionally offer a roughly 50-mile electric driving capacity, Bentley suggests.
Further enhancements encompass a refined all-wheel-drive setup with torque vectoring, steering via the rear wheels, an electronic differential that limits slip, an electronic mechanism to mitigate roll, and twin-valve dampers that adjust both rebound and compression, offering greater versatility between ride comfort and handling precision.
Camouflage-clad test mules have been undergoing trials for over twelve months, though teaser imagery has disclosed some design transformations. The frontal single-element lights akin to the ones on the Bacalar coachbuilt speedster are set to supplant the current version’s split lights. Furthermore, the oval-shaped rear lights have been stretched and thinned down.
The latest iteration of the Continental GT lineup made its debut for the 2019 model year. The forthcoming lineup, including the Speed model, is projected to land in the U.S. for the 2025 model year. A refreshed Continental GT Convertible series is anticipated shortly as well.
