Lexus has given another sneak peek of the TX three-row crossover SUV, and confirmed once again that the new vehicle will be unveiled on June 8.
In 2021, Lexus made public that a new three-row crossover SUV would be part of their lineup and manufactured in Princeton, Indiana. This SUV will be known as the TX and will share the production line in Princeton with the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, which serves as its foundation.
Lexus TX Teaser
The TX is essentially a reimagined Grand Highlander, itself a long-wheelbase variant of the three-row Toyota Highlander. Anticipate a total of three rows of seating, the possibility of second-row captain’s chairs, and an interior adorned with leather. The dashboard will feature a digital gauge cluster and a prominent touchscreen infotainment system, although the exact size of the touchscreen, whether 12.3 or 14.0 inches, remains uncertain.
Built on the extended edition of Toyota’s TNGA-K front-wheel-drive platform, the TX is expected to offer the choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Powertrain options are anticipated to mirror those of the Grand Highlander, presenting the option of a 2.4-liter turbo-4 engine, a hybrid 2.5-liter inline-4, or a hybrid version boasting 362 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, a plug-in hybrid variation is presumed to be introduced to the lineup at a later stage.
Those anticipating a design similar to the concept of the Lexus LF-1 Limitless showcased at the Detroit auto show in 2018 may be disappointed. The distinctive lighting features and roofline of that flagship concept are notably absent in the teaser image. It seems that the TX will feature Lexus-specific design elements layered over the foundational structure of the Grand Highlander, evident in the D-pillar design, taillights, and rear doors.
