The 992 generation of the Porsche 911 is undergoing a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, with some refreshed models already unveiled while others continue to undergo testing.

The rejuvenated 911 GT3, a standout on the track, was revealed in October. Since then, Porsche has been busy testing models at the Nürburgring, this time without the camouflage previously seen on prototypes.

In contrast to the hybrid system that Porsche introduced with the updated Carrera GTS and plans to integrate on the updated Turbo S, the new GT3 opts for a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-6 engine, maintaining a peak power output of 502 hp.

However, modifications were made to the engine to comply with stricter emissions regulations. According to Porsche, these alterations include a new camshaft profile adapted from the 911 GT3 RS, as well as enhanced cylinder heads and optimized throttle bodies.

Buyers can choose between a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, known as PDK, or a 6-speed manual transmission. Both options now feature an 8% shorter final-drive ratio, which Porsche claims enhances acceleration. However, the 0-60 mph time remains the same as the previous model year. Both the GT3 and the more comfort-oriented GT3 Touring version achieve 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, with top speeds of 193 mph and 195 mph, respectively.

The updated GT3 showcases the newly modified matrix LED headlights and taillights common across the refreshed 911 lineup, with an additional white accent ring available for the headlights. Enhanced aerodynamics at both the front and rear improve downforce and optimize airflow. This includes redesigned front fascia, rear wing, and underbody fins. Additionally, a new double wishbone front suspension featuring a teardrop profile contributes to downforce improvements, as per Porsche’s claims.

Inside, the 2025 model features fully digital gauges for the first time, as opposed to the previous mix of analog and digital displays. New trim options are available, and customers opting for the GT3 Touring can have rear seats reintroduced if desired. Additionally, both versions have access to new Weissach and Leichtbau packages that implement various weight-reduction features.

This updated GT3 marks 25 years since the launch of the original GT3, based on the 996-generation 911. Ordering opens later this year for both the regular GT3 and GT3 Touring, with starting prices set at $224,495, which includes a $1,995 destination fee. This new pricing reflects an increase of approximately $40,000 over the starting price of the 2024 model, aligning more closely with what customers likely pay after accounting for dealer markups.

Currently under testing are the refreshed versions of the Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS models. These versions will carry over unchanged into the 2025 model year, signaling that their updates will likely be introduced as 2026 models. Additionally, a new variant, potentially named the Turbo S Touring, may join the lineup in 2026.
