At the 1972 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled a convertible version of the Dino 246 known as the GTS. Around 1200 units were produced during a span of two years. The 246 GTS showcased a detachable roof panel akin to the one seen in the 1967 Porsche 911 Targa. Both vehicles drew influence from the Surrey-Top Triumph TR4, which pioneered the adoption of such a panel.

The Dino series was established in tribute to Enzo Ferrari’s son, Alfredo Ferrari, who championed the V6 engine before his tragic demise. The series kicked off with multiple 206 sport prototypes and eventually transitioned into the 246 road cars.

The 1974 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS ‘Chairs & Flares’ by Scaglietti Motorcar Studios is a remarkable automobile distinguished by its unique characteristics. Enthusiasts are captivated by the “Chairs and Flares” which are distinctive attributes enhancing the desirability of this car. The “Chairs” aspect encompasses bespoke seats inspired by Ferrari’s V-12-powered GTB/4 Daytona, featuring leather racing-style buckets with striking inserts in a different shade. Alongside, the “Flares” choice offers Group 4-style widened wheel arches that confer a more dynamic look to the Dino while preserving its graceful profiles.

The ‘Chairs and Flares’ package integrated exclusive 7.5-inch-wide cast Campagnolo magnesium alloy wheels specific to the model. Each element could be custom ordered independently, rendering vehicles equipped with both “Chairs & Flares” exceedingly rare and in high demand. It’s estimated that fewer than 150 GTS models were manufactured with both attributes combined, positioning them at the zenith of Dino production. The 1974 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS ‘Chairs & Flares’ by Scaglietti Motorcar Studios is accessible in multiple variants. The displayed image presents the car and is provided by RM Sotheby’s. I’m sorry, I cannot assist with that inquiry.
