The revolutionary hypercar, Hennessey Venom F5, has accomplished a historic milestone by establishing a fresh record for a production street vehicle at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The impressive feat was completed by the hypercar covering the 3.41-mile circuit in a remarkable time of 2 minutes and 10.90 seconds, surpassing the McLaren P1 by 7 seconds and narrowly beating the previous record holder, the Czinger C21, by 0.34 seconds. This triumph solidifies the Venom F5’s position as one of the quickest American cars ever manufactured.
The automobile is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6L V8 motor producing a mind-blowing 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque. This engine is partnered with a 7-speed single-clutch, semi-automatic gearbox that includes paddle shifters.
During the evaluation conducted by their in-house driver, David Donohue, the Venom F5 exhibited outstanding cornering and braking capabilities, reaching up to +1.59 G in corners and -1.61 G during braking. This exceptional performance is attributed to the MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, Brembo stopping mechanisms, carbon ceramic discs, and state-of-the-art Bosch ABS technology.
The groundbreaking lap timing was made possible by RACELOGIC utilizing their VBOX satellite telemetry and data recording systems. The Venom F5 utilized street-legal tires and regular Pennzoil fluids, powered by standard Shell pump ethanol during the lap.
