Jeep Wagoneer EV Set For Launch By Late 2025

On Wednesday, Stellantis revealed a series of manufacturing updates for its three plants in Michigan, which included the confirmation of an electrified Jeep Wagoneer by the end of 2025.

The carmaker stated it plans to allocate approximately $97.6 million to prepare the Warren Truck Assembly Plant for the electrified Wagoneer. This facility currently produces the gasoline Wagoneer, and both models will share a production line.

Stellantis portrayed the electrified Wagoneer as one of “four Jeep EVs” set to launch worldwide by the end of 2025, although it is believed to be a series plug-in hybrid employing technology from the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, rather than a solely battery-electric vehicle.

The 1500 Ramcharger is based on Stellantis’ STLA Frame platform, designed for hybrid and electric vehicles featuring body-on-frame construction, and a similar approach is likely to be taken for the electrified Wagoneer.

The powertrain is also likely to be shared between both vehicles. The 1500 Ramcharger melds a 92-kwh battery with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine serving solely as a generator. Ram cites a peak output of 663 hp for the truck’s electric drive system, along with a range of 145 miles using only the battery and 690 miles when combining both the battery and gasoline engine. Expect comparable figures for the electrified Wagoneer.

The announcement of the electrified Wagoneer was initially referenced in a UAW document released in November 2023. The document also specified that an electric Wagoneer will be introduced in 2027, and that the gasoline Wagoneer will receive updates in 2025 and 2027. Considering the timeline, those updates are likely to coincide with the introduction of the electrified and electric variants.

Other announcements made by Stellantis on Wednesday included confirmation that the 1500 Ramcharger and the 2025 Ram 1500 REV electric truck will be manufactured at the Sterling Heights facility, where the gasoline 1500 is assembled.

Stellantis also reported that the Dundee Engine Plant will be utilized to produce components for the STLA Frame and STLA Large platforms, in addition to new 4-cylinder engines, including a 1.6-liter turbo-4 that will be deployed in a hybrid powertrain set to launch in 2025.
