Ford’s Bronco Raptor SUV and Ranger Raptor truck excel off-road, however, their capabilities on paved surfaces and in a straight line may be less gratifying. With either model, you’re looking at a 0-60 mph acceleration time of approximately six seconds.
There’s a remedy, and you can discover it at your nearby Ford dealership. The automaker revealed on Thursday a performance enhancement for both models, starting at $825.
The enhancement includes a new software calibration for the vehicles’ twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine, boosting the maximum output to 455 hp and 536 lb-ft of torque.
This represents a significant increase compared to the baseline specifications of 418 hp and 440 lb-ft for the Bronco Raptor and 405 hp and 430 lb-ft for the Ranger Raptor.
Remarkably, the enhancement renders the midsize performance pair more formidable than the full-size F-150 Raptor, which has a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.
Additional improvements consist of enhanced throttle response and an optimized shifting program for the 10-speed automatic transmission.
The enhancement is accessible for Bronco Raptors from the 2023 and 2024 model years, and Ranger Raptors from the 2024 model year.
Ford stated that a 20% discount is offered for the enhancement and other products from the Ford Performance Parts catalog to anyone who registers their vehicle and participates in Ford’s single-day Raptor Rally course. The course is priced at $500 and will occur on September 21 at the Ford Performance Racing School in Fairfield, Utah.
