Despite offering exceptional specifications, Lucid faced challenges with its debut model, the Air. The total deliveries of the Air for the third quarter of 2024 reached only 2,781 units, marking an increase of over 90% compared to the same quarter from the previous year.
The introduction of the Gravity is expected to greatly enhance Lucid’s delivery figures. Set to debut as a 2025 model, the first variant available for order is the Gravity Grand Touring, which will start at $94,900 prior to a destination fee projected to be around $1,500. The Gravity Touring model will follow, launching in late 2025, with a starting price of $79,900 before destination charges.
Although not officially confirmed, a Gravity Pure version may eventually be launched at a more affordable starting price. The Pure serves as the entry model for the Air sedan, which has a starting price of $69,900 plus destination for the 2024 model year.
The Gravity Grand Touring model boasts 828 hp and offers a range estimated to surpass 440 miles, which is the highest for any electric SUV currently available.
In addition to the Gravity, Lucid is also developing a compact crossover aimed at competing with the Tesla Model Y, set to launch in late 2026. The company has hinted that this model will have a starting price below $50,000.
Lucid operates another facility in Saudi Arabia, currently utilized for semi knocked-down (partially assembled) versions of the Air, with an annual production capacity of 5,000 units. Future plans include expanding this plant later in the decade to support full production of Lucid vehicles at an annual rate of 150,000 units. It is likely that both the Gravity and the upcoming compact crossover will also be manufactured at the Saudi facility.
