Just ahead of the highly anticipated Bathurst 12 Hour race, a slightly altered Mercedes-AMG GT3 Extreme has established a fresh lap record at the Mount Panorama Circuit.

The AMG GT3 Extreme was skillfully maneuvered by Mercedes-AMG Performance driver Jules Gounon on the 3.85-mile track, achieving an impressive average speed of 119 mph. This resulted in completing the lap in a remarkable 1 minute and 56.605 seconds – marking the fastest ever lap time recorded by a GT car.

This unrestricted version of the GT3 race car, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Extreme, boasts a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 650 hp without the air restrictor. Coupled with a drag reduction system, the car was able to achieve a top speed of 192 mph on the Conrod straight. Additionally, the ‘Extreme’ variant showcases enhancements like a modified front apron, splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser.
