The Pagani Utopia is an exceptionally rare, meticulously crafted supercar, yet it is not immune to recalls.
Pagani has announced a recall for the V-12 supercar due to a manufacturing defect in the dashboard panel on the passenger side, which may hinder the proper deployment of the airbag situated behind the panel in the event of a collision.
This panel is constructed from carbon fiber, and an issue with the molding process has resulted in extra composite material along the panel’s edge. This anomaly could potentially harm the airbag during its deployment, a concern that came to light as Pagani was testing a new leather covering for the panel.
As outlined in the recall notice issued by the NHTSA on November 25 (recall campaign number 24V891000), only eight Utopias in the U.S. are affected.
The remedy requires dealers to fix the panel by to all edges to ensure that the carbon fiber does not come into contact with the airbag. This repair will be conducted at no cost to the vehicle owner.
Owners of the affected vehicles can expect notification letters to begin arriving on December 9. For more details, they may contact Pagani at +39 059 4739201.
The Utopia commenced deliveries in the U.S. last year. Serving as the successor to the Huayra, it retains the same 852-hp twin-turbocharged V-12 engine from Mercedes-Benz AMG. Earlier this year, Pagani rolled out an open-top variant, along with a manual transmission option in addition to the standard sequential transmission.
