Adapted last year by Lexus, the NX saw a redesign that brought about the NX 450h+ variant, renowned for its efficiency featuring an electric-only capacity and notable swiftness. This model, sharing its platform with the Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid, houses a
2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and hybrid mechanism, culminating in a total output of 302 horsepower. Equipped with all-wheel drive, it boasts a 37-mile electric-only capacity, marginally less than the RAV4 Prime’s 42-mile range.
The charging process is swift, needing merely four and a half hours with a Level 2 240-volt charger utilizing the standard 3.3-kW onboard charger, reducing to two and a half hours with the choice of a 6.6-kW charger.
The NX 450h+ holds an edge over other trims in terms of performance. It achieves a 0-60 mph acceleration of 6.0 seconds, a substantial improvement over the comparative 8.6 seconds of the NX 250 AWD and NX 350h AWD models, reaching 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Furthermore, it provides a superior driving experience and suspension configuration in contrast to other NX variants, highlighting comfort over athleticism.
Internally, the 450h+ boasts a novel 14.0-inch touchscreen within an enhanced multimedia system, featuring a standard 9.8-inch display. Nevertheless, the digital gauge cluster lacks a contemporary look and utilizing the steering wheel controls may pose a challenge. The automobile is also equipped with wireless charging, albeit with a flawed design that may result in iPhones experiencing frequent disconnections.
Pricing for the 2023 Lexus NX 450h+ starts at $57,705, intending to stake a solid claim in the plug-in hybrid market thanks to its elongated electric range and amplified power, rendering it an enticing choice for hybrid vehicle aficionados.
