Bonhams is presenting an exclusive opportunity for affluent car enthusiasts to acquire one of the swiftest and scarcest street vehicles worldwide – the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. This unique automobile will be auctioned on January 25 at the Scottsdale auction in Phoenix, Arizona, with a projected cost of $5 million to $5.5 million.
The 2016 Bugatti Chiron, the forerunner to the Chiron Super Sport 300+, was renowned for its remarkable velocity, capped at 267 mph due to the absence of suitable production tires for speeds nearing 300 mph. The 2016 Chiron was officially marketed with a peak speed of 285-287 mph.
To surpass the 300 mph threshold, Bugatti augmented the Chiron’s 8.0L W16 quad-turbo engine by 100 hp, propelling the Super Sport 300+ to an impressive 1600 hp. The automobile’s frame was elongated by 10 inches, and the rear portion underwent a revamp focused on pure aerodynamics, integrating a lower diffuser and stacked tail piping.
During trials in 2019, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ clocked a record-breaking speed of 304 mph, clinching the accolade of the planet’s speediest car. With just eight units slated for the USA out of a total production of 30, this particular model, the 9th in the series, was dispatched via Manhattan Motorcars in February 2023, with a mileage of slightly over 250 miles upon its arrival.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ dazzles not only with its exceptional performance but also with its remarkable design, paying homage to Bugatti’s esteemed past. The eye-catching black and orange color scheme strikes a perfect harmony between making a daring statement and upholding an aura of sophistication.
The external facade of the vehicle is crafted from interlaced black carbon fiber, lending it a stunning and slightly intimidating appearance when it catches the sunlight. Internally, the vehicle boasts premium features such as Beluga black embellishments, cross-hatched leather seats with dual stitching, Jet Orange accent pieces, an Alcantara steering wheel, and the iconic EB badge.
