The revamped 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is set to hit dealerships this spring with a starting price of $57,445, Toyota revealed on Tuesday.
This initial cost, which encompasses a $1,495 destination fee, aligns with what Toyota indicated when the fresh Land Cruiser (termed the 250 Series) debuted last summer. It pertains to the entry-level Land Cruiser 1958 model, named after the year the Land Cruiser made its U.S. debut. Toyota will also provide mid-tier Land Cruiser and high-end Land Cruiser First Edition variants, priced at $63,445 and $76,445, respectively.
The introductory price signifies a substantial reduction from the former 200 Series Land Cruiser that ceased production in 2021, which began at approximately $85,000, reflecting Toyota’s approach to reposition the Land Cruiser as a more compact, robust SUV.
2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
The U.S.-spec 2024 Land Cruiser (Toyota provides a different variant known as the 300 Series in other regions) is 4.4 inches slimmer and 1.2 inches shorter compared to the previous 200 Series, featuring retro design elements. Beneath its exterior is a variant of the Toyota TNGA-F platform, also utilized by the Sequoia and Tacoma, along with the Lexus GX and LX.
Every 2024 Land Cruiser comes equipped with a hybrid system. A 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is combined with a 48-hp electric motor within an 8-speed automatic transmission, generating a total of 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Full-time four-wheel drive, featuring a 2-speed electronically activated transfer case, a Torsen limited-slip center differential with manual lock capability, and a locking rear differential are included as standard. Mid- and high-end models enhance the experience with disconnecting front sway bars.
The base Land Cruiser 1958 variant features heated fabric seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a six-speaker sound system. Mid-tier Land Cruiser versions advance to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio setup, and synthetic leather seating. Only the high-end Land Cruiser First Edition boasts genuine leather upholstery.
Standard driver-assist features encompass automatic emergency braking with pedestrian awareness, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. A surround-view monitoring system is available as an option.
The 2024 Lexus GX, which closely resembles the Land Cruiser in size and purpose, starts at a higher price of $64,250. Lexus aims to justify this price difference with a more opulent interior and a standard twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine producing 349 hp.
